I’m sure I’m preaching to the converted here, but isn’t stationery great? As handy as it is to have a digital calendar that syncs between my laptop and my phone, nothing beats writing down your to do list in a notebook and ticking things off as you go.
The other night, I went along to the launch of Busy B‘s 2018 dated diaries range and completely fell in love with the brand. I already had a couple of things of theirs, but hearing the story behind the business from founder Kerri (and seeing the beautiful stationery all in one place) made we want to buy everything.
All of Busy B’s stationery is designed right here in Edinburgh. Not only does it look pretty, but it’s all really practical too and will help keep you organised. With Christmas coming up, I thought it would be the perfect time to talk you through a few of my favourite items from the range – whether it’s a gift for someone or a present for yourself!
1. The Perfect Planner Diary 2018
At the event, we each got to choose our favourite diary from the 2018 range and have it personalised with beautiful calligraphy from Laila Lettering. As soon as I set eyes on this duck egg blue and gold number, I knew it was the one for me. The Perfect Planner Diary 2018 has the week across two pages, giving you plenty of room to note down appointments, meetings and reminders – plus there are monthly and yearly calendars, space for notes, tear-out reminder lists, a removable mini notepad and stickers to personalise your diary.
2. The Weekly Planner Pad
I couldn’t live without a Weekly Planner Pad on my desk. Every Monday morning, I sit down and plan out my week, and always keep my planner pad to hand so I know what I’m supposed to be doing each day. I use mine mostly for organising my freelance work, but this Busy B pad would also be great for reminding you of appointments, social events or even keeping family life in order.
3. The Meal Planner
I’m always trying to get better at meal planning to avoid the temptation of a takeaway or a last-minute dash to the shops, so I’ve got my eye on Busy B’s Meal Planner & Shopping List Pad. It has space for a weekly meal plan on one side, and a tear-out shopping list on the other.
4. The Organiser Notebook
I’m so bad for buying pretty notebooks and then never using them because I don’t want to ruin them. But this Organiser Notebook is so practical and useful that I’ve got no excuse not to use it! As well as a wire bound lined notebook, there’s also a half-width section at the front which would be perfect for writing to do lists. You’ll also find a handy pocket to keep bits and bobs in, and some stickers so you can created tabbed sections.
5. The Desktop Calendar 2018
As I use my Google calendar and my planner, I usually find that I don’t need to bother with a wall calendar too. But this little Desktop Calendar is too cute to say no to. It would be perfect for a quick glance to keep you right on what the date is and what you’ve got coming up, plus there’s a handy wee pocket to keep small bits of paperwork in.
6. The Pretty Little Pouch
I received a Pretty Little Pouch as a Christmas (or was it birthday…) gift last year, and it has been so handy. It’s the perfect size for throwing in your bag to keep all your important bits and pieces together. I particularly love it for travelling, because you can keep your keys, phone, money, cards etc all in one place without having to root around in the depths of your hand luggage.
7. The Pack of Notebooks
Another great thing for throwing in your bag is this Pack of Notebooks. I always like to carry a notebook and pen around with me, but don’t usually have room for a big A5 notebook. These dinky little ones are the perfect size, and are ideal for jotting down notes on the go.
8. The Page Markers
Although they’re probably not an essential purchase, I love stickers and sticky notes. These Page Markers are great for decorating planner pages or notebooks, as well as being fairly practical too. The arrows are ideal for reminding you about important stuff, and the larger notes would be great if you need to note something down but don’t have enough space to squeeze it into your planner grid.
9. The Travel Wallet
I’ve been keeping my eye out for a passport cover for a wee while, and Busy B’s Travel Wallet looks like it would be perfect. Not only does it have space for your passport, but it also has room for boarding passes, travel documents, currency, travel cards and more. Ideal if you’re usually scrambling around last minute to find everything for your trip!
