It’s September, which means we’re officially allowed to get excited about autumn, right? This has always been one of my favourite times of the year. It’s still reasonably bright and sunny outside, but the colder, darker evenings are creeping in, giving you the perfect excuse to snuggle up on the sofa with plenty of blankets and candles.
TK Maxx challenged me to give my home a little update for the new season, making it extra cosy with some of their new lighting. TK Maxx are currently holding a big brand lighting event across their Scottish stores, with an extra big delivery of lighting products, so I headed into my local branch to see what I could find.
Styling up the bedside table
One of the first lamps I spotted in store was this beautiful star-shaped wire lamp. I’ve been looking for a bedside lamp for my spare room, and thought this would be ideal. It’s much more interesting than a boring lamp with a shade, plus it gives off a lovely cosy glow. The black wire frame goes perfectly with my spotty bed linen, and I couldn’t resist treating myself to a white fluffy blanket from TK Maxx’s homeware section too! The lamp was less than £25 which I think is a bit of a bargain.
As well as table lamps, pendant lighting, lampshades, desk lamps and lanterns, the lighting event also includes candles. As any blogger knows, candles are an integral part of a cosy autumn home. I treated myself to this big candle in a hammered gold pot to sit next to my lamp on the bedside table. They also had copper and silver versions, so you’re sure to find something to match your room’s colour scheme.
Creating a cosy reading nook
I also wanted to create a cosy little corner in my home office. I spend most of my day in here, so why not make it as comfy and cosy as possible? This Moroccan-style lamp isn’t my usual style, but I really love it. It casts such pretty patterns and colours on the wall. This lamp was only £19.99 which, again, is a total bargain. TK Maxx currently have thousands of big brand lamps and lighting in their Scottish stores, with up to 60% off.
I styled up the lamp with a stack of books, a plant (you can never have too many house plants), plenty of candles, and a blanket and cushion to create a cosy window seat to curl up and read a book in. I picked up the big burgundy candle in TK Maxx too – it’s raspberry & cassis scented and it smells so good. I love having a couple of candles flickering away whilst I’m working at my desk, it makes me feel much more relaxed and ready to tackle my to-do list.
Lighting in TK Maxx Scottish stores
TK Maxx have just had an extra big delivery of lighting to their Scottish stores – but once it’s gone, it’s gone! If you’re looking to update your home for autumn and grab a couple of new lamps, I’d definitely recommend heading down to your nearest TK Maxx this week. You can also find a range of lighting and candles on TK Maxx’s website, or pop in to store for an even bigger selection. The lighting event is taking place now across all Scottish stores (excluding St Andrews and Fort Kinnaird branches).
There are loads of big brands and designer names available at TK Maxx, whether you’re looking for a stylish traditional lamp or something a big more design-led and contemporary. Even if you just fancy stocking up on candles to see you through the autumn months, there are loads to choose from at the moment (and most are under a tenner too!), so be quick and getting shopping asap.
