Working alongside Lanyard Media, I was responsible for managing the social media output for the 2016 Edinburgh International Magic Festival. A unique week-long festival celebrating magic, illusions and sleight of hand, MagicFest continues to draw performers from across the world to put on amazing events, shows and workshops here in Edinburgh.
Building on the social media content created for previous festivals, I was tasked with creating a new social media strategy for MagicFest 2016 which would promote the festival, engage previous visitors and encourage new fans to visit the festival in July 2016. After developing the social media strategy, I was then responsible for implementing it and managing the day-to-day running of MagicFest’s social media channels. This involved writing updates and creating content, scheduling posts using Hootsuite, replying to questions and messages and general community management. I was also involved in creating paid social media advertising campaigns to promote the festival over the coming months.
In addition to social media management, I also carried out a range of other digital tasks such as creating a regular newsletter with Mailchimp and filming and editing videos to be shared on social media.
