I’ve finally reached that age where wedding season is a thing. Between the months of April and October, there seems to be a wedding every weekend on my Facebook feed, and everyone always seems to be busy with weddings and hen dos for various friends and family members.
Going to a wedding is always lovely, but there’s also usually the dilemma of deciding what to wear. You want something fancy, but not too fancy; something that will be comfortable to wear all day, but also looks great; and something that isn’t too “wedding-y” so you can get away with wearing it again.
Luckily, Simply Be have a great selection of occasion dresses which are ideal for summer weddings – from fancy frocks to more casual dresses, depending on how formal you want to go.
I fell in love with the Lovedrobe Cold Shoulder Dress – an exclusive for Simply Be – as soon as I saw it. The red colour is beautiful and the lace patterns add a nice detail. I don’t like wearing sleeveless dresses, so the cold shoulder sleeves are a great way to feel summery without exposing too much flesh! Because the lace material doesn’t have any stretch in it, I’d advise opting for one size above your usual – but otherwise it fits perfectly, cinching in at the waist and flaring out into a lovely midi-length skirt.
As well as wearing this dress to a wedding, it would also be great for a hen do involving cocktails and dancing – or even for a more tame hen do with afternoon tea! Adding blingier jewellery and a bigger pair of heels would instantly make it less formal for a fun night out, and simpler, elegant accessories help to keep it suitable for a wedding.
Because the bright colour of the dress is quite a statement on its own, I would keep the accessories minimal for wearing this to a wedding. My heels are from ASOS and they’re perfect for an outfit like this. The heel isn’t too high so you’ll be able to wear them all day, and even though they’re black, they still look dainty and summery which is perfect for a wedding.
As for jewellery, I’ve paired my Simply Be dress with a gold bee necklace from Alex Monroe. I’ve had my eye on this necklace for years and finally decided to treat myself to it. I think I’ll be getting a lot of wear out of it! It’s perfect for both dressy outfits like this, and also for casual outfits with jeans and a striped t-shirt.
I finished the look off with a clutch bag from New Look with black and white striped detailing. It’s a great size for a clutch bag, and the pattern helps to add a little bit of interest to the outfit without being too bold.
Whether you’re a wedding guest, a bride or a bridesmaid, Simply Be have lots of beautiful dresses to help you look your best. Sizes run from 12-32 and there are hundreds of styles to choose from, so you’re sure to find something you love! Check out their Wedding Boutique for more inspiration.
