I had big plans for this Sunday. I was going to get up bright and early, take a leisurely stroll into town, force Owen to take some outfit photos for me (bribed with the promise of brunch afterwards) and have a wander round Stockbridge Market. But, despite sunny skies when I first woke up, by the time I had finally got up and had a shower, it was pouring rain. And I mean pouring.
Rather than calling the day a complete write off, we decided to shelter from the rain by spending a couple of hours in the National Museum of Scotland instead. And I even managed to bribe Owen to snap some photos of my new Cambridge Satchel Company bag – although in the end the promise of brunch was ruled out in favour of chicken wings. Seriously, Zuhus is my life.

Last week the Cambridge Satchel Company team invited me along to their Edinburgh store to find out more about their new Spring Collection. Inspired by the French Riviera, the collection not only includes stunning new colours, but also new textures as well. There are muted blue-greys, dusky pink terracottas, classic ambers and saffiano or grain leather.

After much deliberation, and with lots of help from the lovely ladies in the Cambridge Satchel Company Edinburgh store (which is their only store in Scotland at the moment!), I finally settled on the beautiful Terracotta Small Traveller Bag. The Cambridge Satchel Company also offer an embossing service, so I personalised my bag with a little gold heart. I absolutely love the colour of this bag, it’s really nice and spring-y and bright, but it’s not too colourful so it still goes nicely with my mostly black, grey and white wardrobe. Handmade in Britain using top quality leather, you can tell the bag is really well made and will last for years – my Classic Satchel is still good as new after 2-ish years!
For my new bag’s first outing, I decided to keep things fairly casual with my favourite black skinny jeans and a leather jacket. Now that spring is on the way (supposedly) I thought I would swap my usual black jumper for a brighter monochrome polka dot long sleeved t-shirt. This one was a bargain find from Primark last year and I had kind of forgotten I owned it, but I think it’ll definitely be getting a lot of wear once the weather gets a bit warmer.
As The Cambridge Satchel Company’s bags are made from real leather, they can be quite stiff and not super roomy – but the Traveller bag is dreamy. Even though it’s quite a small bag, I can fit my camera, a spare lens, my purse, makeup, keys and even a spare tote bag in it. Amazing! Once I learn to stop taking so much stuff with me everywhere I go, I’ll definitely be treating myself to a compact little Cloud Bag.
Which Cambridge Satchel Company bag is your favourite? Let me know what you think of the new collection – and definitely pop in to see the ladies in the Edinburgh store if you’re on the hunt for the perfect new spring bag!
