Springtime

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to spring. It’s already starting to feel more like a new season; the nights are slowly getting lighter, there are tulips in every shop and I’ve eaten several bags of Mini Eggs. I don’t actually mind winter, but there’s just something about a fresh new season at the start of the year which puts a spring in my step (pun most definitely intended).

Spring is also the ideal time to do a little home refresh, cleaning out the old stuff and adding a few new homeware bits and pieces to replace them. Recently Dartington Crystal sent me this Daisy Flower Bottle* and it has been the perfect home for a beautiful bunch of tulips. I love having fresh flowers in the flat, and tulips are one of my favourite varieties, so I always make the most of spring’s flower-laden supermarkets. You can’t go wrong at £3 a bunch! I love the bright turquoise-blue of the flower bottle, it’s nice to add a bit of colour rather than having a plain glass vase.

Jo Malone White Jasmine and Mint Candle for Spring

Another way I like to welcome springtime into my home is by lighting some fresh new candles. I’ve used up the last of my heavily spiced winter scents, and now it’s time for some lighter fragrances. Jo Malone’s White Jasmine & Mint Candle is ideal for spring as it’s soft and refreshing without being too heavily scented. It’s a very subtle fragrance but you can certainly notice it in the room, even without it being lit. Jo Malone candles are on the rather expensive side, but they’re worth it for a luxurious treat.

And finally, I might as well do a cheeky wee bit of self promotion! Spring is the perfect time of year to change up your decor, so why not add a couple of new prints to your walls? Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been busy sketching and designing a range of prints which are available to buy in my Etsy shop. To start with, I’ve mainly focused on some of my favourite cult TV and movie characters and a few little quotes, but I’d love to hear what you think and if you’ve got any ideas/requests. There will be more designs appearing very soon! This Mindy Kaling print is one of my favourites so far, and she’s definitely a girl after my own heart: “I have the right to life, liberty and chicken wings“.

What are your favourite things about springtime?

I’m really looking forward to spring and summer, I find winter so miserable and depressing so I can’t wait for lighter nights and sunshine.

Definitely, there’s nothing more horrible than it being dark when you leave the house and dark again by the time you get home!

I love winter but even I’m ready for Spring now! The seasons are really extreme in the north of Scotland and I’m sick of the cold now!

I can’t wait for the day I can leave the house without five different layers on or – shock horror – without a jacket!

  • Seriously Spring can’t come quick enough! Winter is all fun and games up til Christmas, after then January and February can just bog off..

    Prints look fab btw!

Oh you’ve made me want to go out and get myself some flowers!
Also I’ve just taken a look at your Etsy shop & it’s gorgeous! The ‘good vibes’ print has to be mine at some point – lovely work.

You definitely should, nothing better than some nice bright fresh flowers. And thank you Sandra!

  • Great article, we’re also totally excited for milder weather and longer days. And call us biased, but we absolutely love spring flowers!
