Mixtape: July

July Mixtape · via Spotify

I was just thinking the other day that I hadn’t been listening to much music this month, but when I went to write up this post I realised that most of the stuff in this mixtape is actually new stuff (well, new to me anyway). I think my favourite discovery of the month is The White Buffalo, who I first heard (rather embarrassingly) on the soundtrack for Safe Haven. Perfect blend of acoustic folksy rock, which is pretty much my favourite genre.

I also have a little bit of a soft spot for Sleeping At Last’s cover of 500 Miles after hearing it in the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. The ceremony itself was completely daft, a wee bit embarrassing but strangely entertaining and it couldn’t have been more Scottish in spirit even if it tried. I already love the Scottish Ballet so was pleasantly surprised to see them appear, accompanied by the beautiful arrangement of 500 Miles (raaaather different from the original!).

Royal Blood · Figure It Out

What have you been listening to this month?
