It’s been a while since I last did an outfit post, eh? For the last few months I’ve pretty much been wearing the same 4 or 5 dresses on rotation but, with summer finally starting to make an appearance, it’s high time I had a bit of a wardrobe refresh. This Natalia Dress from French Connection is definitely the brightest dress I own; I love this neon coral-pink shade and it’s perfect for summer. I’m usually very anti-bare-legs, even in the height of summer (although, to be fair, in Scotland the weather is rarely hot enough to warrant removing the black tights anyway), but I like that this dress is a bit longer than most highstreet skater dress offerings. It’s not quite a midi, but definitely long enough to cover up my scabby knees. Seriously, at the moment I’m covered in cuts, scratches, burns, scrapes, bruises… I evidently have the motor skills of a small child. Anyway, I have a couple of lovely French Connection dresses now and they’re always great quality, I’ve got my eye on a few more that I’d like to add to my wardrobe.
I loved the big, full, swishy skirt on this dress (and it has pockets!!) so I decided to keep the ’50s theme going with a denim shirt tied at the waist. I’ve had this H&M shirt for a few years now and, truth be told, it’s a bit small for me now. In fact, I don’t think it ever fitted properly, but I was too lazy to return it. Instead of wearing it like an actual shirt, lately I’ve been wearing it on top of skater dresses like this as something in between a cardigan and a jacket. Perfect with a pretty dress, some Wayfarer style sunspecs and wedge sandals for a put-together outfit that actually requires no effort.
I went shopping last week and got a couple of new jewellery bits and pieces from New Look. Sadly neither the set of rings or necklace seem to be available online, but hopefully they’ll still be in store if you fancy getting your paws on some. I really love the little pop of neon pink in the necklace, and it matches this dress perfectly. I’ve always been a big fan of necklaces on long chains, but lately I’ve been buying lots more of the short/statementy kind of necklaces. This one was nice and cheap – just over a fiver – so I think I’ll have to go back to New Look and see if I can find any more bargain ones for my jewellery box.
