Aside from that, this week has been pretty quiet. It has been so nice to have a little break from the internet (although I do have mountains of emails to catch up on now, waaahhh) and read a couple of books, eat lots of nice food, and spend time with the dogs (and parents too, I suppose). Fly is getting so grown up now, she looks so much bigger than the last time I was home. She's 4 months now so still pretty tiny, but she's got loooong legs and huge ears, the rest of her hasn't quite caught up yet! She loves causing mischief and hardly ever seems to sleep, no idea where she gets all her energy from. I could definitely be doing with some of that, there never seems to be enough hours in the day to get everything on my to-do list checked off!
I'm back at home in Aberdeenshire at the moment as I was on Doors Open Days duties in Aberdeen this weekend. Yesterday afternoon my mum and I had a wander round a few buildings in the centre of town, including Marischal College, the Town House, the Advocates Library and St Nicholas Kirk. You'll be able to read all about it on the Doors Open Days blog next week! It's Aberdeenshire's Doors Open Days next weekend so I'm going to extend my holiday at home for another week and go to some buildings then. The weekend after is Edinburgh's DOD so I'll be back down to the flat ready to explore some more places. Edinburgh has loads of buildings open, not sure how I'll be able to choose which few to visit! I quite fancy going to Surgeon's Hall, anyone want to come and look at lots of gory things with me?!
What have you been up to this week?

I've always wanted to go to Aviemore - my friend had a 30th celebration in a cabin up there but I had something else on that weekend and couldn't go. Gutted. :-( Love your pictures!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the trees.

This makes me really miss Scotland. Love the photos. I heard about Doors Open Day and it sounds like such a great concept! If I ever come back to Scotland, I'll have to check out Aviemore too. Looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like an idyllic getaway - it's so lovely to press the pause button on life every so often and just get away from everything and get some perspective! I've been having a similarly chilled-out few days on a 'staycation' from work. I'm really pleased to have stumbled upon your lovely blog - I'm an Irish girl living here in Scotland for the past 2 years so it's lovely to read about places I've been or intend on visiting and to get loads of insider tips :)
