Mixtape: August

August Mixtape · via Spotify

I'm pretty sure I've included Alkaline Trio songs in at least half of my monthly playlists so far, but I just had to include them again because I went to see them play live on Wednesday. They've been my favourite band since I was about 14, but this was the first time I'd been to a gig so I was ssuuuupppeeerrr excited. They didn't play very many songs from the new album, but "I'm Only Here to Disappoint" was one of them - I finished putting this playlist together at the start of the week, am I psychic or do I just have good taste? WHO KNOWS.

The rest of this month's playlist is mostly old songs, I don't think my taste in music has progressed at all since about 2006. One exception is "Wake Me Up"; usually I only listen to chart songs on the music channels before a night out, but this song has managed to creep its way into my Spotify library. I have a bit of a soft spot for country music, so I love the little country twang (lol) to this song.

Poison · Nothing But a Good Time
Deep Blue Something · Breakfast at Tiffany's
Fall Out Boy · Dance, Dance
Bloc Party · The Prayer
Avicii · Wake Me Up
Alkaline Trio · I'm Only Here to Disappoint
Queens of the Stone Age · Another Love Song
Joey Cape · Alien 8
Jose Gonzalez · Heartbeats
Dave Hause · Time Will Tell
Listen to "August" here.

What have you been listening to during August?

  1. I've recently been listening to a lot of Fall Out boy after their set at Reading, it was unfortunate that the BBC only showed a few of their songs on their highlights :(

I'm hosting a giveaway at the moment so please go have a look :)

  2. I've been lovin alkaline trio recently, jealous you went to see them live!

  3. Love it! Haven't listened to Breakfast At Tiffany's in so long... I just got back from Reading Festival, so I spent most of August listening to bands that were going to play there in preparation. So, lots of Green Day, Biffy, Johnny Marr and Bastille.

  4. Breakfast At Tiffany's is one of my favourite songs. I love your playlist posts :)

    Water Painted Dreams

  5. Some good songs!!<3

  6. Love this playlist - I remember spending a summer listening to Heartbeats practically non-stop (and another summer listening to Robyn's Heartbeat). I've been listening to Chvrches a lot but will probably be ready for a nostalgia-fest once the summer goes.

  7. Jose Gonzalez's music is heavenly!
I spent August listening to The XX and Arctic Monkeys mostly...still have post-Glastonbury blues!
