I have been looking for a nude lipstick that actually suits me for what seems like forever, and I think I have finally found a possible contender. Because my skin is so pale and my lips are naturally quite dark, it seems to be really difficult to find a flattering nude lipstick. I'm still not entirely convinced I like the look of nude lips on me, but this 17 Mirror Shine Lipstick in the shade Beehive is certainly the best one I've tried so far. I had seen quite a few bloggers comparing it to MAC's Hue, which I was tempted to order, but decided the much cheaper 17 version would probably be a better idea as I'm still not completely sold on nude lipsticks.

The formula of the lipstick is very light and sheer, it's almost more like a tinted lipbalm but it does give a fair amount of colour. As the 'Mirror Shine' name suggests, it has quite a glossy finish but it doesn't end up feeling sticky like lipgloss does. As the colour is somewhat sheer, it allows my natural lip colour to shine through a little bit which helps prevent it from making my lips too pale and washing me out. The lipstick does look like quite a deep pink in the bullet, but when applied it gives a very light wash of colour.

Because of the consistency of this lipstick, it doesn't last a particularly long time, but reapplication is easy to do without a mirror so it's perfect for simple daytime makeup as long as you don't mind reapplying a few times throughout the day. The shade Beehive is a really nice light pinky nude which would probably suit a lot of people, but I'm still a little wary that it might be slightly too nude for me. I really like the finish of it though, so I think I'll definitely be purchasing some of the other shades in the range. I bought this a couple of months ago and I believe the range now has new packaging, but the original shades are still available.

What's your favourite nude lipstick?

  1. Great review, Ive had this for a while now an I do agree on me it looks a bit too nude and have to wear a bit more extra bronzer/blush on my face to conpensate for it. Looks great on you though it suits your warm makeup look:)

  2. looks like a really pretty natural colour :)

  3. It looks really nice! I have the same problems with having pale skin and dark-ish lips. I tend to buy darker lip colours as nude ones are way too light! I have a MUA lipstick which sounds just like this (I think it's called Nectar) because it's incredibly sheer and more like a lipbalm.

  4. I have the same problem with nudes, I have quite dark lips and pale skin and find they almost always wash me out. This looks like a really pretty colour though!

  5. Fab review, I seem to have mislaid my nude lippie so I may have to treat myself to this over the weekend.

Hey, wait, can I even give myself a To Me, From Me gift?!?!

  6. Ahh, I was debating buying this, I have the same dark lips and pale skin as you, so i'm now sold! hello boots :)

  7. I'm dubious of nudes on me too as I am so pale. This looks lovely on you, it's very well known as being a nice nude so you done good! I like Tom Ford Blush Nude but always need to perk it up with some pink gloss on top!x

  8. I think it looks absolutely perfect on you! On my dark skin these kinds of shades turn an awful grey-white and aren't good AT ALL. My "nude" is most people's berry lip colour!

  9. I really like that lipstick but I broke mine last week :(

  10. You are gorgeous!Such a beautiful makeup look.

  11. I was wondering about these lipsticks, I had thought they were discontinued but sounds like they've just got new packaging. The shade looks lovely on you - I also love your liner :)

  12. Honestly, it’s my first time hearing about his lipstick brand. They’re nice! :D
