For some reason, when it starts to get cold I always want to start wearing lipstick in the daytime, whereas in the summer it’s usually reserved for nights out. I’m always drawn to much deeper colours in the autumn as well – any excuse to break out the Russian Red! Here are my top 5 favourite lipsticks at the moment which are perfect for wearing during the autumn months.
Barry M Lip Paint in #136 Golden Bronze:
A gorgeous golden shade that is the perfect neutral for people who don’t really do neutrals. It just gives a hint of colour and shimmer without being too over the top. This used to be my everyday lipstick when I was at school, and I’ve only recently rediscovered how pretty it can be!
Barry M Lip Paint in #141 Royal Raspberry:
Another old favourite, this one has been through the wars and is rather melted now. This is a gorgeous berry shade and can either be worn quite opaque for a bold colour, or if applied with a lighter hand it gives a more subtle wash of colour.
MAC Lipstick in Russian Red:
This was the first piece of MAC makeup that I ever bought, and I think it’s still my favourite. It’s a classic deep, matte red with a creamy formula and long-lasting colour. It creates the perfect 50s look when paired with some winged eyeliner.
No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in #12 Glace:
This lipstick sat at the back of my drawer for ages because I was convinced I didn’t like it, but I tried it out a couple of weeks ago and discovered that it’s actually a really nice shade. It’s a deep, muted pink colour with gold shimmer running through it. This would be a great autumn shade if you’re not a fan of red lipsticks.
ELF Lipstick in Voodoo:
I purchased this quite recently and it has quickly become a firm favourite. It’s a deep rusty red which gives quite a lot of colour, but isn’t too overpowering for daytime. It feels very light and moisturising whilst still being quite pigmented, although I do find I have to reapply it quite a lot. I absolutely love the colour, so I can forgive it though!
