Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed this dress make a brief appearance in Sunday's post as I wore it out on Friday night for my friend's birthday. The dress had been on my wishlist for ages, so when I had to order a couple of things from ASOS a few weeks ago this managed to sneak into my basket too! Mango is never a brand I've bought from before but I really like this dress and I'm sure I will be ordering more from them in the future. I think the main reason I've never bought their clothes before is that they don't seem very present on the high street - in fact, I have no idea where the nearest Mango store is. As much as I love internet shopping, I do like to be able to go into an actual shop to try things on or exchange items if need be.

I really love the colour of this dress, and it's so nice to wear something on a night out that's not black! I really like the cowl neck and the ribbon belt around the waist - all dresses should have belts in my opinion! The only thing I don't like about this dress is the length, it just seems a bit awkward. It feels a bit too long to be a going out dress, but it's not quite appropriate for daytime wear either. Usually I find I have the opposite problem, with a lot of dresses being a bit indecently short! I would say I'm pretty average height (5ft4 ish) so I don't know why I seem to have such a problem!

Despite having a drawer stuffed full of jewellery, I almost always wear the same pair of earrings. I'll put on a different necklace or ring every day, but for some reason I always forget to put in a different pair of earrings. I'm going to try and make more of an effort to wear different ones, starting with this seashell pair from River Island which I bought a couple of years ago. I love them, they make me feel like a mermaid!

Are you a fan of Mango clothes?

Gillian x

  1. Have you dyed your hair? It looks a bit darker but really nice. If so, can I ask what you used?

    1. Nope, it's just my natural hair colour! :) I took these photos in the evening though so had to use the flash, which is probably why it looks a bit darker! x

  2. I've never bought anything from Mango, but this dress is stunning! I often feel awkward about dress lengths, I'm only 5ft 1 so need to be careful about them making me look stumpy if it stops at the wrong place! x

  3. Love this outfit so much :) Also just wanted to say I love the header you made for Louise's blog :) x

  4. That is a stunning colour of blue!

  5. you look gorgeous in blue. swoon x

  6. i had never bought anything from mango until the other day, when i bought a bright blue suede biker jacket (pics on my blog if you're interested). i'm now officially converted!

you look SO pretty on these photos, that dress suits you perfectly!

  7. That's a gorgeous dress! I'm the same with jewellery - I've been wearing my current ones for what seems like forever! Xo

  8. I adore the seashell jewelry, I've been really wanting seahorse earrings. The dress is very pretty too, I love the color. I completely understand how you feel weary of buying from places that don't have a physical store you can try things on at, I find that I tend to like the UK based websites more than some of the US ones and they never have stores near me. You look stunning as always.

  9. Ahh Gillian that colour is perfect on you and I have major hair envy too! x

  10. That dress is gorgeous, the colour of it works so well with your skin tone and the shape fits you perfectly!!
I've just rediscovered Mango recently - I remember going quite a bit about 6 or 7 years ago but then it got a bit weird and expensive so I stopped going, but some friends recommended it to me again, and I ended up buying a nice skirt in there that would be perfect for work!

  11. This is such a gorgeous dress, it really suits you! I've never shopped from Mango before either, I couldn't tell you where my nearest store, and I'm wary of buying things I've not tried on too x

  12. The dress is gorgeous. I really love Mango but have only been in one of their stores. I understand what you mean about their dress lengths but it works out better for me - I'm 5 ft 9 so the majority of their dresses are a really good length on me and not indecently short like most others on the high street.
I didn't know you could shop in Mango on ASOS as my nearest store is Glasgow, a couple of hours a way from me.

    Love your blog!

  13. Gorgeous dress, really suits you - especially the colour. Definitely great to make a statement on a night out rather than the safe black that most of us some to choose. Great to step out of your comfort zone sometimes, especially when it looks that good! xo

  14. Gillian I'm not surprised you love this dress, the colour absolutely suits you!! Really does.x

  15. Those earrings are absolutely gorgeous! You look so lovely and the colour really suits you xo

  16. Lovely dress - colour looks great on you! I recently bought a skirt from Mango in a similar colour - house of fraser on Princes St has a concession range but dont think there is an actual shop... I have been having the same problem recently too with short dreseses especially in topshop and love label and im 5'3 - makes me wonder how tall girls cope! Your earrings are so cute too!

  17. I don't think i've ever brought anything from Mango either, I shall have to check their website out. You look so lovely in this dress the colour is amazing and really suits you. Loving the shell earrings, you also have such flawless skin :)

  18. This dress is fab on you, I love Mango clothes but I tend to buy from ebay or ASOS!
