Friday Favourites #1

sailboat bokeh printstagram twist & shout inspired in scotland Image Map

This week I thought I'd add a new feature to the blog called Friday Favourites. It's a pretty straightforward concept and I'm sure you'll have seen similar posts on other blogs, but basically I'll share a few links to blog posts or websites I've come across recently which I've loved. I probably won't have time to do it every week, but hopefully a couple of times a month I'll be able to share some interesting links with you. If you've read (or written!) any particularly excellent posts recently feel free to email or tweet me with the info!

1. This post with beautiful photography and writing from Jennie's blog. I'm sure many of you will already be readers of her blog, but if you're not you should definitely have a look. This post in particular has really inspired me to start using my camera more and attempt to write something more meaningful on my blog than the usual "I love wearing this outfit, it's so pretty!" commentary.

2. This tutorial for creating bokeh photography. I keep seeing people's Instagram photos with pretty light effects but I can't find an Android app that will let me do the same. I came across this link on Pinterest and bookmarked it to try and create the real thing some time. Looks pretty simple!

3. These stickers of your own Instagram photos. This is such a nice idea, not sure what I'd do with all the stickers but I want some anyway. I used to be obsessed with collecting stickers when I was younger, now I can have stickers with my face on. Perfect.

4. This post about leaving university sums up exactly what I (and I'm sure a lot of other people, too) am feeling at the moment. I'm not moving out of my flat, but a lot of my friends are moving away while I'm staying on at the same university to do a Masters course. Partly because I'm really enjoying studying and think it would be useful for my future career, but partly because I just have no idea what else to do.

5. This new blog about inspiring people, places and events in Scotland. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the blog develops and reading some interviews with creative Scots who are making the most of all the opportunities available.

Hope you enjoy these links, let me know what you've been reading lately!

  3. I loved that post Jennie did earlier on in the week, the pictures are beautiful. I hope your Masters goes well! I've just finished my first year, and I have nooo idea about what to do after yet which is irritating as it feels like everyone around me knows what they want! x

  4. I keep meaning to try how to make some bokeh in my photographs - love the idea of making it with the love hearts!

  5. This is a great idea for a post, especially as it showcases other peoples great works rather than people just telling the world what their favourite products are each month or week. Checking all of these out :) xo
