I used to wear bodycon dresses ALL the time but lately I seem to have fallen out of love with them, abandoning them for the much more forgiving skater dress. When I spotted this dress in Primark for only a fiver I had to have it, there's something about the print that I really love so I can overlook the fact that it's a bodycon style. It does also help that I accidentally bought it a size too big which makes it a little bit less clingy! Even though I have like a billion floral dresses, for some reason the print on this one stood out as being a bit different. I think it's because of the bold, bright tropical flowers contrasted with a dark background rather than the usual ditsy style Cath Kidston prints.

Sticking with the 80s theme, I put my hair up in a side ponytail. I quite like it in these pictures, but I took it down before I actually went out - I don't know why but I really hate wearing my hair up! I'm not even sure why I don't like it, I'm just convinced it makes my head look really weird. Eternally jealous of girls who can just roll out of bed and put their hair in a messy ponytail or a bun!

I mentioned in my last post that I was thinking of setting up a blog design shop. Well, the shop is now open! I always get the urge to change my own layout every few weeks but I really like the one I have now so I thought I would put my HTML skills to better use and help to design layouts for you instead! There are currently two options in the shop - full layout for £20 or custom header for £5 - but I'm happy to do other things, just email me to discuss what you'd like and how much it would cost. Have a read of this page for more details, or email me at gillian@elevatormusik.com to discuss your design!

Are you a fan of bodycon dresses or do you prefer something a bit looser?

  1. That dress is absolutely fabulous. Your belt and shoes complement it really well.

  2. What a steal of a dress for a fiver! I think this dress suits you beautifully. I like body con dresses sometimes, but it usually means that I can't eat as much as I'd like to because the dress shows my tummy fat (plus the inevitable food baby!) I do think this dress looks wonderful on you because you have this gorgeous hourglass shape.

I get the urge (and give in) to change my layout every few weeks, too. Never quite satisfied! x

  3. I don't like my figure enough to be able to pull off a body con dress sadly! I do often rock the side pony tail though - one of my messy styles!

  4. I think with body con dresses, one needs confidence in abundance about their figure, which is why they're so intimidating to me. You wear yours very well! The print is awesome.

  5. Gorgeous dress - doesn't look like a typical "Primark" dress, either! Really like the belt too.

It's great to see you've opened a blog shop, as I always love your layouts!

  10. Great print on the dress and love the green belt. Used to be a huge fan of bodycon but have gravitated away recently but might go back and rediscover it.

  15. You are beyond beautiful, I don't think I could be comfortable in a body con dress if I tried and I have kinda tried. I adore the 80's theme you got going on, I love anything 80's fashion (okay, not acid wash... or was that the 90's?). I love the color of those shoes and I totally feel you on the ponytail thing, I hate how I look with my hair up or pulled back, I don't mind partially pulled back but I feel like I look ...odd with a ponytail. However, I think you look really cute with the side ponytail. Congrats on the shop!
